Thank Your for Your Support

Thank you to all who supported the Matthews Children through the Matthews Children Appeal coordinated by the Queensland Weightlifting Association. As we know Steve and Sandy Matthews perished tragically in the January Tsunami on the Darling Downs. Being a close knit community this touched weightlifters far and wide. As a sport we couldn't sit idely, the Toowoomba Weightlifting Association would like to thank the efforts of the Queensland Weightlifting Association and the Australian Weightlifting Federation.

In total over $15 000 was presented to the Matthews Children at a TWA Function on the 19th of February. $13 385 of the moneys raised for the Children was from the result of the Appeal driven by the QWA, and the many generous donations from members and friends of the weightlifting community. The funds raised by the Appeal was presented by the QWA President Craig Wegert. Both the TWA and weightlifting patriot Peter Thomsen also presented cheques to the Children.
